Appointments

Appointments

Appointments can be made to see a clinician by calling in person at reception or by telephoning 01772 364999.
We are also part of the Greater Preston Primary Care Network which is a group of 9 GP practices working together delivering healthcare.  This group includes Park Medical Practice, Park View Surgery, Penwortham St Mary’s, Briarwood Medical Centre, North Preston Medical Group, Dr Ali (Guttridge), Dr Yerra (Guttridge), New Hall Lane Practice and Lane Ends Surgery.
From October 2022 one or more of our practices will be open from 6.30pm to 8.30pm Monday to Friday as well as 9am to 5pm on a Saturday and 9am to 12pm on Sunday mornings.

Chaparone Policy

We will always respect your privacy, dignity, religious and cultural beliefs particularly when intimate examinations are advisable. These will only be carried out with your agreement and you will be offered a chaperone to attend the examination if you so wish.   A chaperone is an independent person, appropriately trained whose role is to observe the examination or procedure undertake by the clinician.    We will always try to offer a chaperone who is the same sex as the patient however on some occasions this may not be possible. You may also request a chaperone when making an appointment, on arrival at the surgery (please let the receptionist know), or at any time during the consultation.

Home Visits

These should only be requested by patients who are too ill to travel to the surgery.
We would be grateful if you could phone before 10.00am to enable the Doctors to plan their rounds. All requests are triaged so that the Doctors can attend to cases according to their urgency. It may also be possible for the Doctor to deal with your issue over the telephone rather than carry out a face to face home visit so please give the Reception team as much information as possible. Later calls which are not urgent may be held over until the following day.

Telephone Appointments

If you would like to speak with a GP via the telephone, please ask reception who will book a time for a GP to call you back. In an emergency, the on-call doctor will deal with your telephone call immediately.
If you wish to speak to a nurse via the telephone, please ask reception who will book a time for the nurse to call you back.

Interpreter Services

If you require an interpreter, please let the receptionist know when booking your appointment and confirm the language interpretation you require.

Test Results

Please call between 11.00am and 3.00pm (Monday to Friday) to enquire about your test results .
Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
When you take your test you will be advised how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice.
It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

Cancelling an appointment

The practice would very much welcome the co-operation of all our patients in making the best use of the appointments and as such we would ask that you inform us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel an appointment.
When the surgery is open this can be done via reception either face to face or by  telephoning 01772 364999.
If you are a patient who has signed up for online access you can make and cancel appointments via your chosen app.
Each month valuable time is lost because some patients do not contact us to cancel appointments which we could offer to other patients. We monitor all missed appointments and are able to calculate how much time is lost each month.
Please help us to help you.   Thank you
