Prescriptions

You can order your prescriptions from Briarwood using one of the following ways:

Using the NHS App

The NHS app is the fastest and most accessible method to order your prescription. It also has many different functions, including viewing your medical record and, in future, booking appointments.
You can download it by clicking the links below:

Sending us an e-mail

You can e-mail your prescription request to:
lscicb-gp.briarwood@nhs.net
Please make sure to include your name and your date of birth so that we can process your prescription request without any delay.

Please note that prescriptions requests will only be processed between 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

In-person or via post

Lastly, you can order in person by coming into Briarwood and filling in a prescription request form, located on the right-hand side of our reception desk, and putting it into the prescription request box on the wall.
Alternatively you can post your prescription request to us, but please be aware there may be a delay in processing due to the postal service.

Medication queries

If you have a query about your medications, there is an option within the NHS app which allows you to send a message to us with your prescription request – please fill in as much information as possible with your query and we will respond within 48 hours. Additionally you can also e-mail your query, drop it off in person or post it to us.

We no longer accept prescription requests over the phone. This is to ensure patient safety when it comes to ordering medications.

Third party ordering

With effect from 4th March 2024, Briarwood Medical Centre will NOT be accepting third party requests for appliances and feeds. Please note, patients can order these products themselves and we can send the prescription to the third-party company. But the request MUST come from the patient or local pharmacy.

This is due to patients denying that they have ordered the product and it going to waste on multiple occasions.

Please note: We WILL continue to accept ALL requests from local pharmacies.

Prescription charges

As of the 1st of April 2023, the prescription charges are as follows:

  • Single charge: £9.65
  • 3-month Prepayment Certificate: £31.25
  • 12-month Prepayment Certificate: £111.60
  • HRT Prepayment Certificate: £19.30

You may also qualify for free prescriptions. You can check your eligibility, as well as purchase any prepayment certificates by clicking here: https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/check-if-youre-eligible-help

Blister packs

Some community pharmacies offer to prepare medications in a blister pack. This is not something we can organise at Briarwood, but we may be able to assist if you have already spoken to a pharmacy that offers them and they have agreed to put your medications in blister packs.
